With Major League Baseball (MLB) looking to expand in the near future, potential return of the Montreal Expos depends mainly on the ability to build a new Stadium. We’ll update and explore issues face, sites, and stakeholder issues as they arise in this section.
The MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred, has stated that once the issues in both Oakland and Tampa Bay are resolved (also Stadium related), expansion of MLB to 32 teams will be considered (and likely).
A strong ownership group led by Stephen Bronfman and Mitch Garber has already spoken to Manfred and met all conditions including plans for a stadium. Provencher has been known to be involved in some way and will likely be asked to complete the build if Montreal lands a franchise.
